It describes how someone’s death isn’t an end. It is a perfect choice for the funeral of railway enthusiasts I read it just last week at the funeral of a retired railway engineer. This poem’s metaphor may comfort a mourning sibling. This poem cleverly uses the analogy of a train ride to symbolise both the idea of death being the final leg of our travels, with the concept that life has a natural order, and that we must accept that some of us will depart sooner than others. We are all familiar with the idea that life is a journey.
